Tourist dictrict Eagle (Orlické) mountains and foothills

The tourist disctrict Orlické hory mountains and foothills are located in the northern part of East Bohemia. A part of this region is situated in the Hradec Králové Region and the other part belongs to the Pardubický Region. The border of this area is delimited by the range of the Orlické mountains and the line of towns of Dobrošov, Dobruška, Opočno, Týniště nad Orlicí, Choceň, Ústí nad Orlicí, Česká Třebová, Jablonné nad Orlicí and Lichkov. The region has a lot to offer to lovers of nature, history, culture and to active sports people as well.

The Tichá Orlice river passes through the picturesque valleys of the Pardubice’s part of the Orlické hory mountains and the Podorlicko region. In the Peliny natural reserve in Choceň, the river bed is lined with sandy-marl walls up to 35 m high. In the territory of the Orlické hory mountains and in the Podorlicko region, the “Orlické Cycle & In-Line Kingdom” is situated. One of its most beautiful cycle paths goes along the Tichá Orlice river from Choceň as far as Letohrad.

The largest town of the region is Česká Třebová, an important railway junction and a modern international transport terminal. In Letohrad, you can visit an extensive exposition called “Museum of Craft s” and an Early Baroque chateau. The gate to the Orlické hory mountains is the town of Jablonné nad Orlicí situated not far from Pastvinská reservoir and the Buková mountain winter resort with the Čenkovice and Červená Voda centers. In Brandýs nad Orlicí, in a close proximity to the monument of Comenius, the Teacher of Nations, you can lose your way in the hornbeam maze called “Labyrinth” commemorating the Comenius’s work titled The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart that he wrote in the course of his stay in Brandýs nad Orlicí.
